1. How do you work with kids who won’t sit still?

2. What actually happens during the session?
Ask the studio to walk you through it, start to finish. How long does it run? How many outfit changes? Different backdrops or setups? What’s expected of you as the parent? What will your child be guided to do?

3. Who’s actually behind the camera?

5. Can I see a full session, not just the highlights?
Every studio posts its best shots — that’s normal. But it also means you’re only seeing the highlight reel.
Ask to view a fuller gallery from an actual session, ideally with a child around the same age as yours. It’ll tell you far more about consistency, variety, and what the full experience looks like than five perfect photos ever could.
6. What’s the studio actually like?
Small details matter. Is it warm and welcoming? Enough space to move? Comfortable lighting? Can a parent or sibling stay nearby? Is it built with kids in mind, or is it an adult studio that also takes bookings for children?

7. What happens if today just isn’t the day?

Ask what happens if the session doesn’t go to plan. Can you reschedule? Is there a reshoot option?
